I love that show. I hate to think of how long it might be before I get to see season seven.

Also finished all the shopping for Christmas gifts; the last gift was bought tonight. I’m glad that’s done! I have my grocery list printed out and ready to be taken to the grocery store where I’ll buy the Christmas dinner items. The list is long. I’ve decided to add a couple of new things to the dinner this year, including a fruit punch that sounded really good, and a baked pineapple stuffing. I’m also going to make some potato candy, which is really tasty:)

After Thanksgiving, I thought there was no way I’d be ready for turkey and cornbread dressing again, but here I am, definitely ready;) I can’t wait until Christmas. We’re going to open the stockings on Christmas Eve, and the presents on Christmas morning. I hope it’s snowing, with the scent of roasting turkey in the air, and lots of presents to open, and alternating It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story in the DVD player. Have I mentioned that I love this time of year?:)

I’ll get back to concentrating on Legend now that I don’t have 24 distracting me. It’s also just such a busy time of year, but even if I write a thousand words a day, I’ll be happy. It’s driving me nuts not to write on the other stories I’ve got going on, but I am making myself only write on Legend. Gotta get it done!

Website up tonight

There are still some 'coming soon' pages and a couple of bugs that need worked out, but for the most part it's all finished and I love it.
Check it out at www.janeejones.com

Sunday Catchup

This blog is a copy and paste from my WordPress blog, because I didn't have enough to blog about today for unique ones:)

Chloe is doing great. It’s like she was never sick. It’s also like having a two year old in the house, and I am already in need of a break

She likes her big wire crate as long as the door is open and she can go in and out as she pleases, but I put her in it at night when I go to bed, and she’s not crazy about that idea. I can’t trust her out of it just yet, though, as I’m in the process of house training her. Plus, she likes to chew. Once I don’t have to worry about those two things, I’ll let her sleep in a doggy bed in my room.

I’ve actually written some today, and am going to do more as soon as I’ve finished this post. First my wrists; I had to stop writing for a couple of days, but worse than that, I bought a gorgeous goldendoodle-more golden than poodle- from a breeder and fell in love with her, not realizing that she had parvo. She was very quiet, very sad looking, but the breeder said she was just ‘laid back’. She was throwing up a little in the car ride home, but I just thought it was because of the change from the breeder to here, car sickness, etc. But that night, I knew something worse than that was wrong.
Parvo works fast. I took her to the vet the next morning, and he said that she would have been dead by the next day if I hadn’t brought her in.

She’s there now; I visited her today and took her a little stuffed Winnie the Pooh bear, but she looks so pitiful. Everytime I’d pet her or talk to her, she’d whine, just a little bit. She can’t hold her head up or anything, she’s just lying there with an IV. Poor little thing. She has to make it.

The breeder gave me my money back for her and said that if Chloe doesn’t make it, they’ll give me a new dog. But I don’t want to think about that. Besides, wouldn’t the other dogs have parvo as well? Even if some of the dogs are separated, can’t you carry parvo to them on your shoes and clothes and such?

I just want Chloe to be okay. She’s the sweetest dog; exactly the dog I’ve wanted for a long time. I hate the thought of her being at the clinic without anyone who really cares for her, without anyone taking time to pet her or talk to her. I wish I could bring her home and take care of her.

Link to TT

I posted TT number 6 here.

I'll try to update to this blog tomorrow...I've been busy writing and sometimes the blogs get neglected!

Submissions and Myspace

I can't believe it's been a week since I posted to this blog! I guess that's what happens when you get really busy and have way too many blogs to maintain anyway!

I didn't do a TT this week, so I figured I'd make up for that by just posting to my blogs.

The short novel is done; better than that, the synopsis is done! I sent the synopsis and blurb and m/s off to Samhain yesterday. I have five books submitted now, and I'm waiting to hear something back on all of them.

Meantime I'm going to start writing a loose synopsis for the urban fantasy I'm writing now, so I'll be a bit ahead of the game. In case I haven't mentioned it enough yet, I hate writing the synopsis!

I've met some really nice people on myspace; one of them asked me where she could buy my books, and when I told her that they weren't out yet, she asked if she could have one of my banners to put on her page. I'll post when I get the ATCs up on my website.

What did you all think of the Emmys last night? I was happy that Terry O'Quinn won. I really like him on Lost. I also wanted Kiefer Sutherland or Hugh Laurie to win. Maybe next time.
Katherine Heigl was entertaining; first the announcer mispronounced her name, and then when she won and said that her own mother said she didn't have a chance in hell, but she's a big supporter, she really does love me! And her mom didn't crack a smile--not at first anyway. I was rolling in the floor:)
Also, Elaine Stritch was hilarious.

The last couple of days we've had great weather; I'm ready for Halloween. I have little orange buckets of candy sitting around, and a few decorations. I'm just happy it's that time of the year; I'm definitely ready for summer to end.

Off to write! I have been neglectful the last couple of days.

Odd People and Nice Doctors

I just remembered that I hadn't done this weeks TT! It's so late now that I think I'll just have to wait until next week. I haven't even thought of any thirteen things to write about. So next week it is.

I need to start writing anyway, I haven't done any today. I did sign up with Facebook, and Bebo, which I've written about. I still prefer MySpace, though. Maybe because I'm more accustomed to MySpace than the others, I don't know.

I'm getting ready to have my website redone; the whole layout, just everything. It's getting a more professional makeover;)

At the doctor this morning, two things happened. One, I took my Harry Potter book-which I've nearly finished, by the way-with me because I knew I was in for a little wait. It had been necessary for me to arrive early, and I always like to catch up on my reading if I'm going to be just sitting around anyway.

Anyway, I went into the waiting room and sat down, opened my book, and started reading. There was only one other woman in the room, and she did two things that really, really annoyed me. One was to totally ignore that I was reading and two was to ask me personal questions!

Now, I'm a nice person, I really am. But this woman, a complete stranger, asking me personal questions, just...wasn't good! And she wouldn't stop! I had my book up to my nose by then, grunting in monosyllables hoping she'd get the hint, but noooooo. Finally, I took me, and my book, informed the receptionist that I was going to wait at the little sitting area at the back of the floor, and that's what I did.

The second thing that happened, and I just thought this was so nice, was that the doctor brought me the book section of his paper-he knows I'm a reader and a writer, and he brought it back to me and just told me that he thought I might want to read it.

Okay, I'm off. Writing time! I think I'll just copy this one to my WordPress blog...

I've Been Found

Tonight I sent off my 15000 + word story to Samhain. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
I wrote the blurb and synopsis today, which seemed to take forever. But it's done, so now I'm in for around a three month wait. The waiting is hard, but in the meantime, I have more to finish and submit.
One of my sisters just informed me that she INVESTIGATED and HUNTED until she found me! Now she knows my pen, for crying out loud! I messed up by putting Ohio in my profiles...and she found me. Remember that game? I used to play on the kitchen floor of my house
with my sisters.

2...Put peanuts in my Pepsi. Yum! I think I'll do that tomorrow, now that I've
remembered it ;)

3...Sang at flea markets. My brother, who is two years older than me, would break
out his little acoustic guitar and I would just stand there and sing! I wasn't shy in
those days :)

4...Put the foil from gum on my teeth and pretended I had braces. Yeah, I know. But
I was really young! We do stupid things when we're kids ;)

5...Had a pet goose

6...Vowed that when I grew up, I would eat ice cream and candy and potato chips
every single day!

7...Received a locket for Christmas from my third grade teacher.

8...Stole my mom's copy of Helter Skelter and read it. Then wished I hadn't.

9...Wrote my first story about some kid who spit toothpaste out of her mouth when
someone said something funny. That's all I remember about that story!

10..Was sure that if I concentrated hard enough, I would discover that I had
magical powers ;)

11..Learned to use crutches

12..Started smoking. I was thirteen, and it took me a long, long time to finally quit!

13..Walked in my sleep. Luckily, I stopped!:)

Links to other Thursday Thirteens!
1. Lia
2. Gina Ardito
3. Jennifer McKenzie
4. Seeley DeBorn
5. Morgan St. John
6. Christine d'Abo
7. Red Garnier
8. Elle Fredrix
9. Debbie Mumford
10. Savannah Chase
11. Moondancer
12. Adelle
13. Paige Tyler
14. Daisy Dexter Dobbs
15. Marie
16. Heather
17. Ember Case
18. Robin L. Capricious and absentminded, she's determined to make a positive impression on Cupid, who'll be traveling incognito. To her horror, flight turbulence whips Lula's class materials out of the chariot.
Without her map to Cupid's Earthly headquarters or her invisibility garb, the naïve nymph is in trouble.
Hunky, macho electrical contractor Dake Dronyer is in hell. At least that's how he feels manning Cupid's Headquarters, his gay brother's girly flower shop, during an emergency. When a gorgeous, curvy, nearly naked blonde bursts into the shop, talking of such bizarre things as nymphs, Cupid, chariots and invisible wings, things start looking up. Dake's captivated, and wild with desire.

Of course, he's certain she's nuts. And probably a hooker.

Lula's thrilled. At last, she's found Cupid!

Romantic Comedy/Fantasy

Available NOW!

ISBN: 9781419912528

PURCHASE Finding Cupid from Ellora's Cave

Read EXCERPTS on DaisyDexterDobbs.com (Note: suitable for age 18 and over)

Reader Advisory: This book contains graphic male/male
sexual interaction.

Thursday Thirteen # 2

Thirteen Things I've Discovered This Week

1... I don't know why I have to work on so many different ones at once, but that's how it is. This new one is going to be the full length novel, though, and the other three include two shorts and a novella. So I figure that's okay. I needed a novel in the mix.

This latest book is so in the early stages that I won't give any details just yet. I've got the outline pretty much in place, something I rarely do since I'm quite the pantster, and I'm thinking to do this one as a series.

It's hard to map out books, in my opinion. I want to sit down and write the story. Sometimes that gets me into trouble, but most times it's fine.
I just feel like this new one is going to require a lot of planning, so I'm going to plan and plot and outline :)

Music, Writing, and Thanks

I got in the mood for Bryan Adams tonight.
I haven't listened to him for such a long time, and I remember being in love with certain songs of his. I've been in touch with a clinical psychologist who is answering my research questions with such tireless patience that I just put up an acknowledgments page on my website so that I could thank her and the others whose advice and information I wouldn't want to be without.

I also had a much needed laugh from a blog I read today. Because this does not feel good.

Meanwhile, today I got a scanner to replace my broken one, so tomorrow I’ll be putting my ATC’s on my website. Maybe. I saw it come in and couldn't read it at first, I had to take a minute to tell myself, 'it's okay if it's a rejection. You'll just keep writing and keep submitting...' and finally I peeked at it and saw that it was not a rejection, and I was very happy! That was my first submission. Now I just have to wait and see what happens. That can take awhile, so I'll be patient.

Tomorrow I submit The Healer's Love to Brava...or I might hold off for a couple of days. Writing will come next though, as soon as I'm finished with this blog, because I've worked on the website some and can just do it little by little; with the books, I want them finished!

Daisy Dexter Dobbs told me today that she wouldn't recommend putting excerpts of my books on my site until after they've sold. She also said that I could put a 'free' short story on there, just to let people see my writing style, so I'll do that soon:)

I do have some titles of my books on the site, though. I really do not like it when I don't get enough hours of writing in. Most days I do, truly, so you'd think that on those rare days when I don't write what I think is enough, I'd be more forgiving of myself, but nooooo. I'll be up 'til the crack of dawn, writing.

There is so much to write, and I've got to get it written. I put in a link to this blog, and everything was fine, and then the next day, thanks to msplinks, my blog link would take you to myspace's homepage. I could not get past that no matter how hard I tried. I tried taking out the http:// part, to no avail. I read everything I could find, did everything those sites said, but nope. I really like the html editor I've downloaded; it's giving me no problems, knock on wood.

There isn't much new to blog about. I'm moving along with the two books I'm working on, still have heard nothing about the one I've submitted, and don't expect to, for awhile yet. I'll be submitting the novella soon. I have got to get that synopsis written, and I've got to write the blurb, etc. Believe me, it's much more fun writing the book.

I've got two friends on myspace(give me a break, I only just signed up! Unreasonably, illogically, sincerely terrified. I have nightmares about them; sometimes I will wake up and be just positive that there is an evil spider hanging in space right in front of my face, ready to pounce! I'll scream and bat at the air like a mad person, jump up and get the light on, and of course there is nothing there at all :)

When I was a child, I went to stay all night with my dad; he was upstairs asleep and I was downstairs asleep. My brother and his wife were also staying there that night, and they were downstairs asleep as well.

So imagine how they felt when I woke them all up with bloodcurdling shrieks; my dad nearly broke his neck tumbling down the stairs with his shotgun, but I think my brother got the worst of it. He was sound asleep when suddenly he was awakened by me as I stood at his bedside, holding my hands toward him, shrieking madly! I was still not even fully awake!

Of course my dad thought there was an intruder, and my brother, well, let's just say he never did let me live that down! Once he got over his close encounter with a heart attack, that is.

And all because I was having a nightmare about a spider!
In truth, I hate to even write the S word, because when I do, I visualize them...So yup, I have a quite a phobia when it comes to sp--the S word. ;)

And here is what got me blogging about this; my cousin just spent approximately a month in a hospital in Columbus, after a spider bite. He nearly lost his leg; he was bitten by what they are calling a 'hobo' spider, but there aren't supposed to be any of those where we live, so either it was just a rare case for this area, or in actuality it was a brown recluse. Hobo and brown recluse bites are often confused.

Ugh. I'm going to go wash my mind out with soap and think about other things!

Cornbread and Algae Eaters

I had my CT scan today. I'll find out the results in a couple of days.

Also, I finished the Short that I've been working on; I'll be submitting it to Ellora's Cave as soon as I've made sure it's edited within an inch of its life and is ready.

I had so much fun writing both the novella and the short, and now that they are finished, I'll be back to concentrating on my novel, and perhaps starting a whole new project as well. The novel is much more complicated than the short or the novella, and it is going to take a lot more time to finish. I miss it! I miss the world and the characters and the adventure ;)

If you guys get a chance, you should check out, not only DDD's blog, but also Tess Gerritsen's blog. Extremely entertaining and interesting!

The fish are acting really weird since we've moved them to the big aquarium. They seem to sleep alot more; so in one side of the tank I keep the light on, and in the other side, I have the light off. They seem to like the dark side more than the light side, for some reason. Maybe it will just take them awhile to adjust, being used to their tiny aquarium from before.

I'm going to get an algae eater soon; I've heard that only the Siamese algae eaters really make a difference in the algae concentration in the tank, so I'll look for that kind. I might have been misinformed, so I really should do some research. I also want to get a few more fish; three little goldfish are really not enough for this aquarium. So, soon as I get a minute, that's what I'm going to do.

My daughter loves old TV shows such as Lucy, Three's Company, All in the Family, Family Matters, etc, so we named the fish Archie, Lucy, and Jack. I expect that Urkel and Edith will be next :)

I stopped on the way back from the hospital tonight to pick up a few things for my mom; buttermilk, collard greens, and cream horns. Seriously.
She will eat the buttermilk in a bowl with cornbread, and the greens, she eats those with pretty much anything. Cream horns? She has a sweet tooth so big she has trouble keeping it in her mouth.

Mom also had an algae eater back in the day, and she swears up and down that her algae eater listened to her.
She said she'd yell, "Algae!" (that's what she named it. Algae.) "Algae!" and that it'd come popping its head up to see her, and she'd talk to it.
She became attached to her algae eater and was quite upset when it died!
Personally, I think she should get a puppy, but that's just me. ;)

She wanted me to take a large piece of exercise equipment off her hands the other day, but I told her I had no place to put it, which is true. She says, "Put it at the foot of your bed." And I said, "I don't want to do that, I don't want my bedroom looking like a weight room!" So she comes back with, "I don't know why not. Nobody is going to see it but you!"
Lordy, lordy!

Okay, I'm going to do some writing and editing now:)
Goodnight, all!

The End

The novella is finished. It's been one of those days; up early, I hardly a chance to sit down once, am I'm almost not exaggerating!:)

My mom had a 55 gallon aquarium, which it just so happens that I bought her last year, and when she moved into a new apartment, she wasn't allowed to take the aquarium! Ah, the joys of renting! Anyway, she gave me back the aquarium, and by the time I figured out how to put all the doodads in and on it, and got it filled with 55 gallons of water...well, lets just say it took me awhile. And not only that, but she decided to buy me this huge old buffet for 15 bucks at a garage sale, to put the aquarium on! oh Lord! I couldn't say I didn't want the buffet to put an aquarium on, seeing as how she bought it for me, so that had to be picked up, and I had to find a place to put the thing, which was not an easy task.

I still haven't gotten that scenery thingamabob to stay put inside the tank. I've done everything but superglue it in there, and it's still floating around like it's possessed. It wasn't too bad until I turned on the pump and then there it went.

I have three little goldfish-they aren't going to know what to think, after being in their eensy weensy little aquarium for so long, to suddenly be emptied out into this huge one. I'll have to get more fish now:)

So I didn't get to write tonight, and now I'm too tired. I figure this'll be my day off writing, and I'll be back to writing like a madwoman, tomorrow. Good thing it's Saturday! I'll have nothing to do and nowhere to go.

I'm single and have no husband bothering me all day either! 'Course, that mightn't be such a bad thing. Sometimes I miss being in a relationship. Most times not, though. I'm resting, I guess.
Someday I'll find my Mister Specialhead. :)

I wrote Daisy Dexter Dobbs again, because I am so full of questions, and she is such a sweet lady. How nice it is that a writer who is established takes time to help those such as myself, who are quite unestablished.
Patience, Willow!
Anyway, she emailed me back again with an email full of advice, links, and the answers to my questions.
Have I mentioned she's incredible?

I'm writing a short erotic romance which I'm going to submit to Ellora's Cave, and I am at the end. I just basically need to write a few more sentences, a little editing, and then send it in. And then I'll need to forget about it so I won't drive myself nuts waiting. I'm not the most patient of people, but will have to become one to survive these waiting periods!:)
No one has read this one; I haven't even told anyone I'm writing it, especially not my sister who is reading my novella, because then she'd want to read this one and that is just not going to happen!

Well, I need to go and get back to my late night raisin bran and Lucy reruns, and then I am going to sleep:)
Goodnight, everyone..

Daisy Dexter Dobbs: Romantic Comedy, Erotic Romance: Some of us are Born to Diet

Daisy Dexter Dobbs: Romantic Comedy, Erotic Romance: Some of us are Born to Diet

Above is a link to Daisy Dexter Dobbs, who I am crazy about; not just her writing, but the person that she is. Woohoo!
I usually write on the novella during the day, and the short late at night, like, from right around now until I fall over from exhaustion.
My sister has been reading my novella; I send her chapters as I finish them. She gets mad at me a lot because of the end of chapter cliffhangers, for one thing, and for writing things she doesn't want to see happen to certain characters.
You're not supposed to let family critique your work, but my sister, she isn't one to take it easy on me just because I'm related to her.
Her sincere interest in the books and her dismay at the ends of chapters are good things. I try to crank out at the very least a chapter a day for both books nowadays, and usually more, since the writing is just flowing, but heaven forbid I should skip a day or two! She knows where I live! ;)
She lives a couple of hours away, so that's good, else she'd be standing over me with a whip yelling 'Write, write! You don't need to eat!' Actually she does that now, but via phone, so that makes it easier to get away from her. I can hang up the phone. Ha ;)

Tonight was Kathy Griffin night on TV. She's always fun to watch.
I tried watching Paula Abdul's new reality show one time, but I didn't get into it. Maybe I'll give it another try soon. She makes me a nervous wreck though, trying to figure out what she's saying, and I feel like poking sticks in my own ears sometimes when it takes her twenty minutes to just spit out a sentence! And no, that's not her fault, she's not trying to make my ears bleed, but still.

A couple of days ago, I emailed Daisy Dexter Dobbs, to ask her some writing questions. She emailed me back the next day, a huge response, and I just think that was so great.
Look her up! http://daisydexterdobbs.com or http://daisydexterdobbs.blogspot.com. She has a blog and you just might find you love her books. Hey, she also writes erotic romance ;) She's a fantastic, funny, helpful, lively lady, and it shows in her books.

I'm off to finish my own late night erotic romance...I can't believe how quickly it is coming along, just as quickly as the novella.
That's the good thing about writing so much. :)

Goodnight everybody!

Tom, Dick, and Harry

Okay, I wrote tonight, I couldn't not. I wrote, however, not to Willie, but to Tom Waits. Sigh...I love him too. I'm so fickle, I know ;)

How can you not love Tom Waits, seriously?
And is it just me, or does he bear a striking resemblance to Ron Perlman?

You know who else I have a strange attraction for?? I might as well get it out; Tim Curry! Yes, yes, you read that right. I think he's sexy, I can't help it;)
Not sexy as the voice of Nigel Thornberry, maybe, but still. I think he was sexy in that little movie, Muppet Treasure Island. sigh. I'm sorry! But he's seriously sexy and is really a very under rated performer :)

I heard that they are officially making a movie of SATC. That might be old news for some of you, but I just heard it yesterday. Of course I'll watch it. I very much enjoyed that show and those characters and was a bit sad to see it end. Now I'm over it, but I'll watch the movie:)

I'm less than fourteen thousand words away from the ending to the novella.

Why I love Willie Nelson

I think I'll always love Willie Nelson. I don't hear him all that much; I don't watch country music television...I'm not even a country music fan. I do have some of his music on my puter, though, and on a few CD's lying around.

There is just something about Willie. He makes me feel peaceful and he makes me remember the old days and he makes me think of family.

A friend of the family once told me that he'd seen Willie hitchhiking in Southern Ohio, and had picked him up, a long, long time ago. Maybe Willie had crossed over from Kentucky, or was coming from West Virginia, both of which were near. I never knew if that were true or not, but he told me that story probably twenty five years ago when I was a kid, and had said that it'd happened many years before he'd mentioned it to me. So, it's always seemed to me like Willie has always been part of my life, in some way. Whether it was my brothers and cousins playing his music around the bonfire, drinking beer and whatever else it was they did then, all those years ago, or me seeing him on Monk; from then to now, there's always been Willie.

And I do like to listen to his music, and as I've just been thinking about him, maybe I'll listen to him tonight while I write. I know, I know, I said I was taking the day off, but you see that I have to write one way or another so I really should work toward finishing my book rather than blogging at every available opportunity. ;)

I love those pictures of him, the ones that are sepia toned or black and white and his face is so full of character.
I think he was born in the wrong era.

Willie's music makes me feel lonesome and homesick and blue. And I love his look, his braid, his voice, and the way he looks familiar and good and kind and down to earth. I don't know him, so I don't know if he's any of those things, but I feel like I do know him. And in my mind, that's how he is. A special, talented, one of a kind man.

:)

Noon Ramblings

I need to spend the day away from my keyboard, cleaning my house and doing the laundry. I'd actually convinced myself that is what would happen, because I've been spending so much time writing that I haven't gotten anything else done around here!

I bought this house only a few months ago; had it built, actually, so it's brand new. The grass is scraggly in the backyard but it's finally coming in. It's just so hot. The contractor put grass seed down but it sure is taking its time growing.

It takes time to get everything the way I want it, but I did get a privacy fence up around back, and have planted some bushes and hedge and plants.

Fall is my favorite time of year; around Halloween is usually perfect. Then I start looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas, holidays I absolutely adore. Everything just seems so fresh then, and invigorating. I've always been a fan of the cooler months; maybe because I was a winter baby. :)

I still want to find a fun dancercize type DVD for exercise; my treadmill bores me, my reclining bike bores me. I'm the type of person who wants to jump up from my writing and start dancing around the room with bursts of energy;) I tried one of those weighted hula hoops for a few weeks, and though I enjoyed it, it hurt me! Bruising and bleeding, I kid you not. So, after I failed to toughen up, I pitched it. :(

I guess I've delayed long enough. The house cleaning and laundry await. One of these days, I'm going to get rich and hire someone to do that for me! Well, maybe not ;) But it's a fun thought.
Goodni-- hey! I can't say that now, seeing as how it's the middle of the day. So...later, everyone:)

Sex and the Seedies

Sex scene tonight. In my book, that is...this one wanted to be stubborn and took some doing to get right. Sometimes that happens.
When I get stuck on the sex scenes, I try to pretend 1.)I'm Daisy Dexter Dobbs or 2.)No one in my family will ever read one of my books. Sometimes those things help the scene go. :)
And my scenes are really rather tame. Not so tame as to be ridiculous, but tamer than a lot of popular romance books. I may have to change that.
I'm sitting here here in the middle of my bed with my pumpkin seeds, staring at this screen, and I really can't think of another thing to write!
My brain feels foggy and tired from all the writing I've already done and I'm just exhausted!
I'm off...
Goodnight, everyone ;)

Black Lab and Christmas Tunes..

I've been writing while listening to Black Lab tonight. At the moment, the voice of Paul Durham is just what I need. His voice is...incredible. I didn't even know about these guys until the little 'The Shield' commercial during which they are singing 'This Night.' That song with Paul's voice really helps me write. I have the album on my computer, but that song is the one I want tonight.

I also love Kate Havnevik's Grace Master, Damien Rice, and even though I hate the name, the Butthole Surfer's Pepper has helped me lately! Other ones include Radiohead's Creep, which helps me when I'm stuck, as does the Crash Test Dummies. And though you might laugh, I get through a lot of scenes with various artists, generally female, singing Silent Night, Oh Holy Night, and other music one would generally only listen to at Christmastime! (I want to marry Sean Bean and am obsessed with pumpkin seeds, just to mention a couple of other quirky traits of mine) Thank goodness for Pandora :)
And Allison Crowe and Haley Westenra!

So much music...and all of it helps with different scenes in different books. I love writing; but without all this great music, it might be just a little less pleasurable.

I'm looking forward to watching 28 Weeks Later on DVD. I generally always wait for the DVD to come out. There are few good movies to watch, coming out soon:)

Well, though I was planning on typing more, I must go and do other important things, thus this will be cut short once again. At least I got to talk about Black Lab, and they are well worth talking about.

Goodnight, all:)

Happy Fourth!

Happy Fourth, everyone!

My street was rife with fireworks tonight, up to around eleven thirty, and then all was quiet. A day early, but they like to start celebrating early around these parts. Tomorrow I will grill some burgers and hotdogs and we'll watch fireworks tomorrow night from our backyard.

The later part of today I spent writing, and I emailed an author about a Sci Fi anthology any writer can contribute to, as long, of course, that his or her submission is accepted by the editor, so that might be my next thing. After I finish this novella, and the Fantasy book I'm working on, I'm going to write and submit an erotic romance to Ellora's Cave. I like having a full plate. Most of all, I like to write.

I'm still on the hunt for a good graphics tablet. Soon!

My novella awaits, so I'm off.
Night night, everyone:)

Short, Sweet and Forgotten

Today I wrote, a lot. Well, thirteen pages, which is a good many, if you ask me. I'm writing the novella for the contest, and I want to finish it and get back to the novel. I'm having fun with the novella.
It's Romance, and I might have a little trouble with that. My novel is a Fantasy book. We'll see. So far, so good.
Once I get flowing, I don't want to stop, but alas, I have other things to see to, of course, and can't write all the time;)
I brought up the novella to write in something I thought of, and forgot I was writing this blog. So long minutes passed, and when I closed Word down, I saw that I had completely forgotten to finish this blog!
I don't have a lot to say, actually. I think I'm all written out for now.
Goodnight, then...

Fun and Games

I got a computer game today called Missing Since January and once I finally got it up and running(I had to get a patch, etc)I think I'll probably have fun with it. Parts of it are a pain, but parts of it are fun. And I haven't even gotten very far yet. I saw online where one person said it took her ten months to finish. I'm hoping that was because she didn't get a chance to play it often, not because it was that hard!

I loved Deja Vu, Silent Hill, Syberia...those were entertaining games! I'm always on the lookout for games like those. I've run into some really bad ones along the way as well, but it's always good to find the gems ;)

Once I damaged my back from Tae Bo, and I was in bed for a few days playing The X-Files game on PlayStation 2, and got to the very end and didn't end up finishing it! I got better, got out of bed, and just never went back to do the end. I don't do that often! Seriously!

I wrote on the Novella last night, and am going to do a bit tonight. I'm behind because my schedule is just off. The last few days have been like that and I need to get back on track.
I can't slack with these books, I just can't.

Goodnight everybody ;)

Calmly Questioning

I went back for my blood pressure check today, just to make sure it wasn't a fluke, and it was...116/80. How weird is that? I got rather..not upset, but excited, I suppose, and the nurse took it again and it had gone up to 145/90! Just like that, within a minute! So strange. I'm not going to see the doctor for a week, until after the CT scan, but I have to wonder; Is it hypertension if your pressure only goes up when you're excited or anxious? What's up with that? Dammit, I hate not knowing these things. I have no idea what the doc can possibly do about pressure that fluctuates like that. Or if there is any need to do anything at all. Maybe I should start doing Yoga. Or at least learn to stay calm. I'm a pretty 'jump off the walls' kind of person though, so I don't know about that.

So anyway, I don't know just yet whether I should be happy and relieved, or not.

I finally got to watch Shooter tonight, and liked it. I always like those shoot 'em up action movies, so I figured I'd like it.
The Last King of Scotland didn't impress me much, except for the fabulous acting by Whitaker, who I think is just amazing.
I enjoyed Apocalypto, though it was a bit cheesy in parts. I don't mind cheesy, as long as it entertains me and keeps my mind off serious things. That's why I watch movies. Entertainment value! If it's dry and bores me, or is unimaginative, then I don't see the point in wasting my time.
I'm such a sap--I can't even make myself watch Peter Jackson's King Kong because I know how it goes, and I just don't want to see the poor gorilla die! And I have it here, but each time I start to put it in, I'm like...oh, I'll watch it some other time. I don't want to be sad ;)

I didn't write anything at all today; I needed a break and had such a busy day that I figured today would be my day off. Tomorrow, I'll make up for it.

Goodnight, to anyone who might actually read this...

Tests and Novellas

Doctor today; I suddenly have high blood pressure. Doc is sending me for a CT scan. It's weird, my blood pressure has always been textbook perfect, and now this? It wasn't high back in the day when I smoked. I don't drink, do drugs, eat really terrible foods...maybe whatever is making me feel sick lately has pushed up the BP.

Anyway, lots of blood work results to wait on, CT scan probably will be scheduled tomorrow, and I go back tomorrow and Saturday as well to have my pressure checked to see if maybe today was just a fluke. Then back to the doc in a week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I haven't written tonight on the book, but...I have started a novella which I hope to be able to finish in a couple of months along with my book, because there is a contest. So, I'm going to be working on two books simultaneously, because getting my name out is an important thing and I'm not going to pass this chance up.

There hasn't been an opportunity yet for me to get Shooter, so tomorrow night I'm going to get and watch that movie and have Subway while I'm watching. That seems so relaxing to me, a treat.

God knows I need to relax.
I'm turning in early tonight, so...
goodnight everybody.

Logic, or Lack Thereof

Ten pages tonight. I'm happy. It's just a great day when the story is still flowing.
I get scared; Sometimes I'll go through a phase where I cannot possibly ever write another word; I'm dry. And I'm sure that's just the end.
But of course it isn't. I always come out of it.:)

I find the best things to get me going again are putting in music, and just opening up the file and writing. If I make myself write something, then eventually, the good stuff comes and the words flow, once again. Also, writing sites. I enjoy reading writers blogs and tips, as well as reading their 'when I was first published' stories and other things they have to say. :) It gets me in the mood!

Some days I get so beat up emotionally by all the horror in the world that I like nothing better than to lose myself in my book.

Tomorrow I visit my doc for the first time in forever. It's way past time for a checkup and I need to have this dizziness checked out. Even though I know it isn't logical, it seems to me that a visit to the doctor is sure to bring bad news. If I ignore it, it isn't there.

I'm not a medicine taker either, oh my no!! I'd rather chew nails. I had a severe allergic reaction to Penicillin when I was a small child, and I think some part of that traumatic event stuck with me and caused my reluctance to chance that happening again.
But sometimes meds are necessary evils, and I take them. ;) On the plus side, I am so unused to taking anything, even antibiotics or OTC pain relievers that when I do, they really work quickly and well.

I'm thinking of getting a graphics tablet. I saw one recently at slickdeals.com for a great price, but passed it up. Now I regret it. Anyway, I'm keeping my eye out for a good deal on one, and this time, I'm snatching it up.

Well, time to get off here, after I make some last minute rounds.
Goodnight...

Muse and Music

I've been writing off and on nearly all day. The muse is alive and well and so is my mp3 player, which helps me write. I need music when I write.

Speaking of which, for those of you who don't know, Pandora.com is wonderful site. I often plug in to Pandora when I'm writing. I have a few stations there which I've loaded with the types of music I like. It's always different for me. And that's just perfect.

Pandora.com is trying to keep internet radio alive and well so if you'd like to visit and read up on ways you can help, please do so. I would hate to lose sites like Pandora. Wow. I sound like an advertisement.

Shooter is out today. I'll rent it soon, maybe this weekend, because against all thoughts to the contrary, I started to like Mark Wahlberg. He's really a good actor. And I'm due for a good DVD movie:)

I'm going to take a break from writing now to watch Kathy Griffin. Despite the way it sounds, I don't watch a lot of TV, I really don't!

I'm approximately halfway through my book. I'm going to do some drawings of my heroine's world and some of the secondary characters while I'm watching Kathy. I'm also going to start on a pronunciation key. My son has the specifics of my Heroine's world and is making a very nice map for me. I have my own crude map, but the one he is making is amazing and lovely.

Off for now! I may be back later to write about some more stuff, or I may call it a night on the writing front.
Goodnight all ;)

Writing and Watching and Waiting, Oh My!

Feeling good today, but have an appointment with the doctor on Thursday just to be checked out.

I did five good pages tonight! Five pages might not seem like a lot, but I am happy to have gotten that many. Eventually I am sure I will up my daily quota to a lot more than five, but I always do at least three. Every day.

Now I feel like doing nothing other than curling up on the bed and watching those old reruns of Three's Company that are on right now.

I am anxiously looking forward to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The Last book. I will miss those books! I'm sure I'll reread them a few times, just as I rewatch 24. I have fallen in love with Kiefer, seriously:) I didn't watch this season of 24 on tv; I wait for the DVD box set, buy them, and watch them in marathon weekends. With lots of pizza and diet coke!

Maybe some of you remember or were fans of La Femme Nikita. I so loved that show, watched it religiously. I was broken hearted when it ended and in such an awful way. Oh don't get me started about that one! I keep waiting for Pita Wilson or Roy Dupuis to make an appearance on 24. Roy was such an incredible Michael.

Anyway, enough talking about TV. Off I go to watch. Or not.
Goodnight, guys.

Dizzy Broad

So yesterday I was ill; I had a headache from hell, nausea, and the thing I hate more than the headache and nausea put together--Dizziness! Ugh.
I am feeling better today, but will go to doctor to check it out anyway. Dizziness is not fun, especially at the level I was experiencing it. Now I'm behind on my book, on emails, and every other thing I didn't get to do yesterday. It's amazing how one...okay, two days out of commission can set a person back.
I'll be fine as long as the dizziness stays away.
Still not feeling like being on the puter, so this is going to be a short one.
I am going to go lie down and watch HGTV.
My life is just one big thrill after the other, I tell you.
G'night.

Getting Things Started

Sigh, after one in the morning already...
When I finally get enough time to sit down and blog, it's late and I'm tired, but so far, although it's only the second night, I do look forward to it!

I didn't get to write much of my book today; I did write a little, but after I finish this blog, I'm going to do more. If I don't, I'll be unhappy. Then, sleep at last. Now that, I look forward to! ;)

I've also decided to put some of my fantasy art online. Maybe it will generate some interest. So many things to do, so little time in which to do them.

My tomato plants have little green tomatoes on them; they aren't looking great, those plants, but they are coming along. I have clay soil and lack a green thumb. I love being in the garden, I'm just not real good at caring for it.

My dad cut me some honeysuckle vines a few days ago when I was at his house. I brought them home and stuck them in a mason jar of water, and they have been giving off the most heavenly scent. I bought a honeysuckle vine of my own to start, from Lowes, and every day I go out there by my privacy fence and urge it to stay healthy. I want honeysuckle in my yard. My dad said that when Fall is here, I can come back and he'll pull up some with roots for me to plant. He is afraid that if he does that right now, they won't grow, it being so hot. So this Fall, I'm going to get a lot of them. I wanted to start a pumpkin patch as well, but it may be way too late for that.

Another thing I want is to get a tree that won't grow very big, to put in my backyard. I don't have a huge backyard, but I do so love trees. I just don't know what kind to get, really. Feel free to clue me in, if you have any ideas.

I'm listening to Damien Rice's 9 Crimes. Love it. Love him. And Lisa Hannigan, who accompanies him, is just excellent.

I'm off then. Goodnight, reader. :)

First Time

I've finally decided to do a blog. I'm not sure what I'll write about, really. I'm sure this will end up being a regular hodge-podge of a blog! I do like to write, after all.

Speaking of which, I've begun yet another book. Have I been published? No. Have I tried to get anything published? Nope. But when I finish this book, I'm going to try.
I do know how hard it is to break into the writing world. I know it's a long, tough road. But why not? I have the time. I have the inclination. I hope I have the talent. So...why not? Writing is something I do.
On this latest effort I am one hundred and thirty eight pages in. I think the hardest part will be the editing of this first draft. I am going to have to learn patience.

I read everything. Well, okay, not everything, but I do read a lot of different things and have since I was a very small child. Back in those days, I adored Nancy Drew. I also read Gone With The Wind in elementary school, and a book about a POW that I've often wondered about but can't remember the name of, or who wrote it.

These days I read, for the most part, Kim Harrison, Laurell K. Hamilton,(and please don't post anything rude about Laurell or her books here. Seriously, there's enough of that online) Kelley Armstrong, Robert McCammon, and Stephen King. Swan Song is my favorite McCammon book, The Stand and the Dark Tower Books are my favorites from King. I loved the Dean Koontz book, Intensity and Sena Jeter Naslund's Ahab's Wife. Variety is the spice and all that.

Goodnight everyone. I enjoyed my first time and hope it was good for you. Or at least, I hope you didn't fall over and crack your nose on the puter when you fell asleep from sheer boredom. ;)
